If you are thinking of buying a kart, do not go out and buy the first kart you see, consider doing a couple of hire kart sessions and visiting a race meeting at your local circuit to look at the classes that are most popular and the standard of the karts being used.

There are classes for most ages and sizes and most importantly budget. Remember when considering which kart to buy you are also going to need a suitable helmet, suit and gloves. Two of the Junior starter classes that we promote at BMKR are the Honda Clubman (Ages 8-11) and the Junior Subaru class (Ages 11-16).

Having bought a kart do a few practice days at your local circuit to build up your confidence and improve your laptimes. When you are ready to start racing you will need to pass the ARKS test.
